Used with threaded fasteners (for example a bolt and a nut), designed to increase the load distribution. Mudguard (penny) washers have an extra large outer diameter. Typically used to spread the tightening load over a greater area than a conventional flat washer. Bright Zinc Plate (BZP) finish offers resistance to corrosion.
